Visiting Steph 3

A final visit to the Batu Caves so that my KL visit would be complete.

There are 271 steps to climb up into the cave and it's not an easy climb when the weather is hot, you are sweating profusely and there are litter, coconut shells and banana skins all over the steps.

Within the main cave.

Some wall paintings which were really pretty with all the colours but the words were all in Tamil so we didn't understand them.

I don't really know what this it but it looks quite freaky. It seems like some kind of mystical animal with a woman's head, goat body and beaver tail???

More wall paintings with strange gods.

The colours were so beautiful.

We went down to Leisuremall where I got a root beer float from A&W which happens to be extinct in S'pore. According to Steph, A&W is already endangered in KL. I'm not surprised. The quality of the food has dropped so much and their floats taste like they were diluted with water.

We had dinner at a vegetarian place because I wanted to try this Hakka dish called "lui cha fan" which is a place of rice and vegetables like kailan, long beans, groundnuts, pickled turnip (cai por) and beancurd.

The dish comes with a bowl of soup which must be eaten together with the rice. It's some herbal concoction of tea leaves, mint leaves and other herbs. I personally thought that it looked like the algal water of neglected fish ponds.

So here you have it!!! Mix everything together and eat up! (Erm...this may be Steph and Wan Shi's favourite dish but it certainly is not mine. I am not a soupy person, not a herbal person and definitely not a veggie person.)
