Saturday BBQ and Farewell for Wen
My sister, Mum and I have been organizing for this Saturday's BBQ. We have been planning and purchasing food here and there for two weeks or so. I know the food's going to be good. My sister ordered beef rendang from this Malay lady in M'sia who does superb rendang. My aunt orders it for her Chinese New Year party every year and I always look forward to that particular dish. It's not cheap though, and the lady only cooks when you order a minimum of 2 kg of beef or chicken.
Initially, the weather looked bad on Saturday. It was raining heavily around 2 pm but the rain cleared up by the evening. I prepared Milo's seafood pasta and fried tomyam tanghoon on the day of the BBQ. My gang of friends (Chris, Mr Tan, Denyse, Kit, Keong, Mike) were invited as well and some of these "gamblers" came earlier to play mahjong. Heh!
Dagen kindly helped me to start the fire after I pestered him non-stop and as usual, the guests were late. Still, I got to play with the cooking with some of Wen's badminton friends and kept feeding my group of friends. Bascially, they were so lucky that I was doing the cooking for them. Wen was also busy moving around with cheese cake, rendang and other various food. My friends loved the pasta and rendang although some of them couldn't take the spicyness. It was nice to see Denyse enjoying the food because I don't know her that well and it's good that she seemed to have fun.
Strangely enough, my group of friends were making the most noise and were the most rowdy. I guess Wen's friends are more of the gentle or demure type whereas my friends don't care that much. We had tons of fun and laughter. The party ended around 10 plus and after clearing everything up, they went up to my room and played mahjong until 1.30 in the morning.
Saturday was super tiring after tennis, preparing food and entertaining people. But I think I was most tired from laughing so much. I had great fun this Saturday and I'm sure Wen did too. She got lots of great presents including this sheep cushion that vibrates. I like it so much and it's going to be mine while she's away in Netherlands. This adds to my collection of farm animals, heh heh heh...
