Brain Dead
I've finally completed my leprosy report. I'm so tired and brain dead from all the compiling and editing. I have been doing this ever since Friday and the task seemed neverending. I mean, I probably could have finished it earlier if not for my groupmates who keep sending me "updated" versions of their report when I specifically told them to give the final draft to me by Saturday. First 1 girl sent an amended version on Saturday night. Then the guy sent his to me on Sunday night and another one just a few hours ago. It was incredibly frustrating because I had actually already edited and corrected their parts but I had to do it all over again because of them. I'm really exhausted from reading the same stuff over and over again. I didn't just have to correct the language, I had to standardise all 4 reports so that the format was the same throughout. This includes the tenses, figures, tables and references. Oh my god the references were the worst. All 4 of us used different formats for the references so I spent a huge amount of time highlighting, bolding, unbolding, italicising and re-typing all the references. Then I also had reduce the number of words for each section as we were only allowed 1200 words each. The guy actually had 1600 words!!! I can't believe it. And he asked me to ask another group member to reduce her part so that he could have more words. I mean, why couldn't he ask her himself? In the end I gave up editing his part and told him to do it himself. If he gets penalized for exceeding the word limit, too bad for him. I don't want to care anymore. There was also the problem of the abstract for the whole report. Nobody wanted to do it and they couldn't agree on coming together to write it. So I ended up doing it because I was so sick of people pushing the work here and there. I also did the content page. I am pretty proud of the content page because it looks really nice. I seriously hope I get good marks for all the effort that I have put in. If I get low marks or the lowest mark among my groupmates, I think I'm going to freak out. The problem is, the report is assessed individually and I'm worried that my part is not detailed or focused enough. Of course, I might have finished the report a few hours earlier if I didn't get distracted by the tv and chatting with my housemates. The 4 of us sat down in the living room and talked for 2 whole hours. We started out with the cutlery and items that were missing from the house and how we needed a steamer much more than a deep-fryer. Then we digressed and talked from religion to languages to Hollywood and Hong Kong movies. Pretty amazing and I truly enjoyed the chat. Then I got distracted again at 10 pm by the Oprah Show where Oprah went on the set of Desperate Housewives (Wisteria Lane) and interviewed the actors. There was also a part where the producers wrote up a character for Oprah so that she could be a temporary resident on Wisteria Lane and acted with the desperate housewives. It was a short clip of about 15 mins but it took 14 hours to film. That was pretty interesting and quite funny as well. Basically I love Desperate Housewives and can't understand what people see in the OC. That show is so trashy and is seriously lacking any quality in the plot department. Like I told Steph, maybe people just enjoy watch rich people on tv have sex and make out and have homosexual relationships. Damn lame!!!
I think I'd better get to sleep now. My groupmates are going to print the report at 8.30 am later and I want to try to be there to see my report before it gets handed up. Hope I can wake up! In case you're interested, the report has 42 pages, excluding the cover sheet.
